Does Your Life Have Purpose?

Every day that God wakes you up, what are you doing with the 24 hours that God gives you? Every day is a chance to do something great with your life, but unfortunately, many people don’t take advantage of the opportunity. 24 hours is a lot to accomplish something in one day, and it’s your free will how you choose to spend your time. Some people utilize their time to do something great, but some people use their time to do unpleasant matters such as gossiping, drama, fighting, etc. Ask yourself, does your life have purpose? A person can physically be alive with their heart beating but spiritually dead. For instance, a person who stands on the street corner all day smoking cigarettes and watching local drama happen in the neighborhood is an example of a life without purpose, as nothing productive is being accomplished.

A life with purpose is doing something that will not only benefit you but also benefit the Kingdom of Heaven and society as a whole. For example, reaching souls for Jesus Christ is the ultimate foundation of a life with purpose. Not only are you leading people to Jesus Christ, but you're also using your God-given gifts effectively. Many people have gifts given by God, but sometimes these gifts are put to the side. A life with purpose does not mean that you need to have a large crowd of millions of followers like some mega preachers, but even just reaching one soul and changing their life is an extraordinary example of a life with purpose. Other examples include starting that business, helping the youth through education, leading your kids and family members down the right path, etc. A life with purpose has positive benefits for both the person and the people that they are helping, with no negative influences leading someone astray.

However, a life without purpose includes many of the same negative influences you see on social media, such as fighting, starting drama, gossiping, spreading rumors, etc. A person without purpose does not look to benefit their life for the better but to tear down other people and make people's lives a living nightmare. A life without purpose is using your time for idleness, as the old phrase goes, “Idle time is a devil’s playground.” This can exemplify why many people, for instance, join gangs or go out and fight because they are seeking pleasure in a life without purpose. A life with purpose means that a person is too busy and focused on improving themselves and others to look to wreak havoc on another person.

A life without purpose does not just involve drama but also just killing time doing nothing productive. For example, a man who goes on his porch at 6am smoking a cigarette watching fights and drama happen in the neighborhood, to where he doesn’t go inside until it’s bedtime at 9pm. An outstanding example of killing time doing nothing to use his God-given gifts to elevate himself or others around him. A life without purpose has no age, gender, race, and so on, as there are many people who are alive without purpose. A 15-year-old young man can have a life with purpose, winning souls for Jesus Christ in his high school, while a 70-year-old woman who gossips and creates rumors about people in her neighborhood has a life without purpose. Every day that God wakes you up is a chance to do something productive with your life.

Many people often state that they are too busy for God, but they are sorely mistaken. They state this, but they aren’t too busy going to the club to get drunk, not too busy to get high smoking weed, gossiping, lying, etc. Sadly, many people bring excuses instead of looking to upgrade their lives for the better. Family, let’s not make excuses, as God sees everything, and you don’t want to stand in front of the Most High God on Judgment Day living a life without purpose, as God will judge you on what you do with your time in the 24 hours that he gave you. Let’s look to do better and improve our situations for the better by following the Most High God and living a life with purpose to bring more people to Jesus Christ as time is running short.
